Viridis Consultant Helen Pearson recognised for contribution to occupational hygiene.

Viridis Consultant Helen Pearson is recognised for her contribution to raising awareness of industrial hygiene (what we call occupational hygiene in the UK) at a ceremony in Baltimore, Maryland.

Held at the American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Exhibition (AIHce), the Mark of Excellence Breakfast recognizes and celebrates the extraordinary contributions made by members and volunteers to the industry and the profession.

At the ceremony Helen was recognised as the BOHS 3M Young Hygienist of the Year, an award she received at the BOHS Conference in Glasgow in April this year. Helen developed a presentation to tell young graduates about occupational hygiene and encourage them to consider it as a career choice.

The presentation, “Badly Drawn Stickman’s Guide to Why I Should Become an Occupational Hygienist” is available to view on SlideShare.

Helen is a keen advocate for occupational hygiene believing that it should be a core component of every organisation’s toolkit in protecting safety AND health in the workplace.

In making this award, 3M continues to be a significant supporter of industrial hygiene education programmes in the US and overseas, recognising the importance of developing the next generation of specialist health and safety professionals in making long term improvements in worker health protection.
