Helen Pearson BSc (Hons) FIIRSM CFIOSH CMFOH AMEI

Helen is an experienced health and safety consultant and occupational hygienist having started her career in consultancy in 2001.  Helen has a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Hygiene from the University of Manchester.  Helen is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CFIOSH), a Fellow of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (FIIRSM), a Chartered Member of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene (CMFOH), an Associate Member of the Energy Institute and is an active member of the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) and has achieved the Certificate of Competence in Operational Occupational Hygiene.

Helen has led a significant number of projects in both the public and private sectors, these include projects in onshore and offshore high risk environments for the oil and gas industry as well as projects for heavy manufacturing, utilities, local government, facilities management and defence sector organisations.

Helen holds a current Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOISIT) certificate, Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST) Certificate and valid offshore medical certificate.

Helen is Honorary Secretary and trustee of BOHS as well as being one of the regional organisers in Scotland.  Helen sits on the Energy Institute's Occupational Health and Hygiene Committee (OHHC) and is a former Chair of the Edinburgh Branch of IOSH and of IOSH Scotland.

Rupert Balfry BA (Hons) GradIOSH AFOH

With a background in environmental science and instructional design, Rupert is an experienced health and safety consultant and occupational hygienist having started in consultancy in 1997.  Rupert is a Graduate Member of IOSH (GradIOSH), an Associate of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene (AFOH) and is an active member of British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS).

Having worked in consultancy for almost 20 years, Rupert has built up a wide range of experience in the provision of health and safety consultancy services, management system auditing, conducting worker exposure studies and developing bespoke training programmes, including eLearning and blended programmes, with this experience having been gained in oil and gas, heavy manufacturing, utilities, local government, financial, education and defence sectors.

Rupert is a former Chair of the Edinburgh Branch of IOSH and former Treasurer of IOSH Scotland.  Rupert was also Chair of the BOHS Conference Organising Committee OH2017 and is an active volunteer speaker for BOHS.
